And tastymomdish is my little corner of the internet!
I launched tastymomdish in the spring of 2018 while I was still teaching kindergarten in Portland, OR. I’d been swapping recipes with the other teachers during lunch breaks, and one rainy afternoon I decided to blog about the simple “one‑pot chicken and rice” that saved me a lot of time after school. The post got a few hundred views, and I realized I could share the kind of home‑cooked meals that keep a family fed and happy without the stress of a perfect Instagram photo.
Fast‑forward to today, the site now averages 45,000 unique visitors each month and has published more than 120 recipes ranging from quick weeknight dinners to holiday feasts. In June 2023 we were featured in Family Food Magazine, and our weekly newsletter, which launched in 2020, now has 8,200 subscribers who love the “5‑minute pantry makeover” series. I’ve also added a printable meal‑plan tool and a small shop where I sell my handwritten recipe cards.
I live in Asheville, North Carolina, with my husband Mark and our two energetic kids, Lily (7) and Jonah (4). When I’m not stirring a sauce, you’ll find me on a nearby trail, digging through my vinyl collection for a good jazz record, or kneading dough for a homemade pasta night. My favorite things are fresh basil, the smell of rain on pine needles, and the sound of my kids laughing while they “help” in the kitchen.
If you’ve ever wondered how to turn a pantry staple into a family favorite, you’re in the right place. I’m glad you stopped by, and I hope you’ll find a recipe that feels like it was made just for you.
